About this Event
London solicitor Arthur Kipps recounts the most harrowing experience of his life, an encounter with the mysterious entity known only as The Woman in Black.
The Woman in Black is an acclaimed ghost story theatrically adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from Susan Hill's novel of the same name. This play is the second longest running production in London's famous West End Theatre District.
Synopsis adapted from the book's description: Arthur Kipps is an up-and-coming London solicitor who is sent to attend the funeral and settle the affairs of a client, Mrs. Alice Drablow of Eel Marsh House. Mrs. Drablow’s house stands at the end of the causeway, wreathed in fog and mystery, but Kipps is unaware of the tragic secrets that lie hidden behind its sheltered windows. The routine business trip he anticipated quickly takes a horrifying turn when he finds himself haunted by a series of mysterious sounds and images. Deliciously eerie, The Woman in Black is a remarkable thriller of the first rate.
"It is such an entertaining play! It's going to be scary, it's going to be funny, it's going to be spine-tingling! This play is going to surprise you!" - Actor, Paul Kortemeier
The audience can expect great moments of suspense throughout the chilling 100 minute run of this show. Even the actors walk away with goosebumps!
The historic Wallace Theatre provides the perfect setting for this theatrical adaptation. "It was designed for this show! It is such a perfect match. It is exciting to bring a play like this to this type of space in Levelland, Texas" - Actor, Paul Kortemeier
The production serves as the Thesis performance of MFA student and esteemed actor Paul Kortemeier. The show is directed by Zach Dailey, and features performances by Kortemeier, Cory Lawson and the dark specter wandering decrepit halls within the historic Wallace Theater. Spend your evening with us and answer for yourself the question, "Who is the Woman in Black?"
**This show is recommended for Students in High School and up due to the "spooky" content and length (1hr 10 minutes with 10-minute intermission)
