About the Show:
Mom's in the hospital because she's "done something stupid." So, you start a list of everything that's brilliant and worth living for:
#1 Ice-cream.
#2 Water fights.
#3 Staying up past your bedtime.
Every Brilliant Thing shines a hilarious and compassionate light on dark corners of the human condition. A play about depression, resilience, and the lengths we will go to for those we love -- and it enlists you, the audience, to tell this heartfelt story.
The show stars Christian Ruiz, an MFA candidate at the Texas Tech University School of Theatre and Dance. This show serves as Chris' final thesis project.
Content note: While there is minimal foul language in the show, and it is predominantly a comedy, it is a play about suicide. A young boy is making a list of every brilliant thing that there is in the world, so that he can give it to his mother who is in the hospital after a failed suicide attempt.
To learn more about the show, please visit the Wallace Theater Blog in the weeks leading up to the show for interviews with Chris and others working on the production. Additionally, you can read reviews of the show from other performances around the country.

Why Should First Responders see this show? "Every Brilliant Thing" was such a moving presentation. It was so thought provoking and interesting. We have all encountered people with chronic depression for years, our ERs are backlogged with these patients everyday, which is so frustrating. This presentation allows us to see another side of the depression, how it affects the families and friends. I highly recommend this play for medical professionals." Connie, RN retired
